The story of From Idaho With Love began in Cambodia, but not in the way you might think. While on an exploratory journey into the rural heart of the country, seeking the rare and elusive Ibis Bird—the national bird and a symbol of conservation—our founder, Vanessa Ferrer, instead stumbled upon a different kind of treasure: an extraordinary community of artisans.
Falling in Love with Artistry
Vanessa didn’t just find a community of artisans; she found power. She was instantly captivated by the depth of talent, the intricate beauty of traditional Khmer weaving, and the vibrant, joyful energy of the artisans. She saw hands that created not just fabric, but a living legacy, weaving centuries of culture into every thread.
Simultaneously, she discovered the powerful ingenuity of local metalworkers, who were artfully transforming unexpected materials—like deactivated landmine brass—into stunning, delicate jewelry. This was the birth of La Boots—a venture dedicated to sharing this exceptional Cambodian artistry with the world.

From the very beginning, this was a collaboration, built on mutual respect and a true passion for slow fashion. Our model is one of global partnership.

Merging Two Worlds: Cambodia Meets Idaho
In 2011, the story evolved when Vanessa discovered the beautiful, rugged landscape of Boise, Idaho. The mountains and the spirit of the American West felt like a new frontier for our mission. Why should this incredible collaboration stop?
From Idaho With Love was born from the desire to bridge these two beautiful regions. It’s a fusion of the intricate textures of Cambodian hand-looms and landmine brass with the rugged, adventurous ethos of the Gem State. We are now a true collective: Weavers from Cambodia, jewelry makers, and artisans from across the globe, all working together for the love of the craft.
