It can be difficult to know where to buy Cambodian products. While you may assume that simply buying locally is the answer, often clothes, accessories and other products are handmade by local women who don’t see any of the profit after their work is marked up and sold to tourists.
Women Supporting Women
In 2012, Vanessa Ferrer moved to Cambodia and fell in love with the beautiful country. But she soon noticed that while Cambodian women were making stunning products for sale locally and internationally, most of the money was being scooped up by middlemen. These hardworking women were being exploited, and working long hours for unfair pay.
Vanessa launched La Boots, which began as a way to bring business directly to the weavers in Cambodia…without the middleman.
La Boots has continued to grow, sending unique, handmade products around the world. We believe that everyone deserves to be paid fairly for their work. And no one should be earning $3 a day.
When women work together, amazing things happen.
